About this idea
A bike friendly city helps people connect to each other and build stronger communities. Not to mention how great they are for the environment.
St. Petersburg has amazing bike lanes and trails throughout the city, and there are a large group of citizens that depend on these trails everyday for travel and exercise.
After living 10 feet from one of the main bike lanes, and helping multiple people pump there tires up or fix a part during a ride, I've realized that, although there are bike lanes, having something to fix and pump up your bike along trails is something that needs to go along with them. One group would have had to walk almost 5 miles home after just riding 15 if I wasn't home to help.
Dero, is a company that makes industrial outdoor bike fix-it stations that have a pump and tools built in, as well as a place to hand/hold your bike while you're working on it.
This is the next step to making St. Petersburg an even stronger community!
Having 5-10 of these around main intersections and on long stretches of bike lanes would be perfect! They each cost just under $1,000 and have very little installation and maintenance requirements.
