About this idea
Due to underfunding of the education system in Milwaukee, it's failure to competently educate, and the web industry is cursed by a plethora of colleges that do not teach real world/agency level web development.
We have a job and education crisis in the inner city of Milwaukee. My goal is to start a free web design school, to get people trained and educated at an agency level, combined with project management and sales skills, to go out and actively market their skills as trained web developers to businesses. Funds will also be used for students that graduate to develop a marketing plan and small advertising budget to attract clients - to ensure success.
This program will have individuals trained within 1-2 years, ready to contribute to the local economy with their newly adopted skill set.
This program is open to inner city youth that are at risk, and adults that have very low income, or suffer from some sort of socio-economic disenfranchisement due to race, gender, sexual orientation or conviction status. The classrooms will be divided by age: those 17 and under (limit 14), and those 18 and up.
The money raised will go towards building a computer infrastructure and learning environment that is condusive for the purposes of learning.
