About this idea
When we were in Vevey Switzerland, my wife and I came across some very charming benches. Peppered throughout the city, in key locations, there were special benches with 4~5 buttons on them (different languages). When you pressed one of the buttons, a short audio recording would play describing the cultural/historical significance of what you were viewing from that particular bench. These benches would be great along the Riverwalk, in Grant Park, across from the Sears Tower or Hancock Building, or any of the other hundreds of relevant spots in the city.I think it could bring about an added layer of cultural awareness for tourists and citizens alike. Plus there is an aspect about finding them all that is fun. It would be nice if the benches had a modern aesthetic like the ones I uploaded from the Highline. To encourage use, the benches could also be free city WiFi hot spots. If they are connected to the grid, they could also double as a limited PA system during emergencies.
