About this project
Books for Babies needs your help to make sure new moms can share the gift of reading with their newborns and begin building a foundation for their educational success. By donating today, you can help give a new mother her baby's first book and help 475 Arlington families access critical early literacy services.
A project of the Arlington Public Library, Books for Babies supports parental involvement in early literacy by giving new mothers at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital a My First Library Card Pack that includes a book for their child, as well as information about additional no-cost programs promoting early literacy offered by the Arlington Public Library.
Your gift of just $10.00 provides a My First Library Card Pack to a new mom, gives her access to family-friendly programs at the library, and enters her into drawings for gift baskets featuring educational toys for her little one.
Literacy begins at home, well before children start school, and parental involvement in early literacy has been shown to affect a child's school readiness, academic performance, and social and emotional development. We know firsthand what a difference early literacy programs make in the lives of moms like Nicole, whose little boy Gabriel, thanks to the Arlington Public Library, loves storytime and already has a favorite author!
How can I be certain that the municipality will use my money for a particular project?
We've got your back! Before any project is posted to Citizinvestor, our partners agree that the money you donate to a specific project will only be used for that project.
Will my credit card be charged if a project doesn't meet 100% of its funding goal?
No! We require that a project be funded in full before any money changes hands. If a project is only 99% pledged once the deadline hits, nobody's credit card gets charged, including yours.
When will my credit card be charged?
Your credit card will be charged the same day in which a project reaches 100% of its funding goal.
Is the money I donate to projects on Citizinvestor tax deductible?
Yes! Under section 170 of the United States. Internal Revenue Code, it states that contributions made to political subdivisions for exclusively public purposes are categorized as charitable contributions. However, with all tax matters, we recommend that you consult a CPA.
Are there any transaction fees included in the project goal amount?
Each project's total cost includes a 3% credit card transaction fee and a 5% fee for Citizinvestor's services. These fees are only paid if the project reaches 100% of its funding goal.
