About this project
The City of Chickasha Parks and Recreation Playground Committee is seeking to renovate the old Kids Place Playground at Centennial Park.
Centennial Park is located in the center of town, adjacent to 6th and 7th streets, between Texas Street on the south and Idaho Street on the north. Centennial Park attracts joggers, walkers, sports teams, dog owners, and school age children from neighborhoods throughout Chickasha and Grady County.
The playground in the park, installed approximately 8 years ago, has been demolished due to unsafe features, wear and tear, vandalism, and an outdated wood play system with sparse wood fiber.
The City of Chickasha Parks and Recreation department is committed to the beautification and maintenance of Centennial Park. The City of Chickasha along with a federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) has provided $185,000 to this project for the purchase of new play equipment, a security system, lighting, and other park improvements.
About Phase 1
We are counting on donations from the community to complete the funding of the first phase of this playground renovation project. Our goal is to raise the $100,000 we need to purchase a new state-of-the art play system (which you can see demonstrated in the video above), fall zone material, and other amenities around the playground area. Our goal is to put the WOW factor in the minds of our young children and visitors to the playground. The new equipment will replace the old wood play system.
We can not reach this goal without your help! Please make a tax-deductible donation today by entering the amount you would like to donate in the field next to the donate button on this page. Although you will be asked to enter your credit card information, your card will not be charged unless the project reaches 100% of its goal before the funding deadline of June 1, 2014.
Why are we raising private funds for a public playground? The reality is that the City of Chickasha Parks and Recreation Department works within a limited budget, and we do not have the resources necessary to replace the City’s aging playground equipment in a timely manner. By raising private funds, we can all demonstrate our commitment to our community, our neighborhood, and our kids, in a VERY tangible way.
Phase 2 COMING SOON!▼
How can I be certain that the municipality will use my money for a particular project?
We've got your back! Before any project is posted to Citizinvestor, our partners agree that the money you donate to a specific project will only be used for that project.
Will my credit card be charged if a project doesn't meet 100% of its funding goal?
No! We require that a project be funded in full before any money changes hands. If a project is only 99% pledged once the deadline hits, nobody's credit card gets charged, including yours.
When will my credit card be charged?
Your credit card will be charged the same day in which a project reaches 100% of its funding goal.
Is the money I donate to projects on Citizinvestor tax deductible?
Yes! Under section 170 of the United States. Internal Revenue Code, it states that contributions made to political subdivisions for exclusively public purposes are categorized as charitable contributions. However, with all tax matters, we recommend that you consult a CPA.
Are there any transaction fees included in the project goal amount?
Each project's total cost includes a 3% credit card transaction fee and a 5% fee for Citizinvestor's services. These fees are only paid if the project reaches 100% of its funding goal.
