About this project
Your donation to this project will help provide work space for 40 new entrepreneurs!
Murrieta/Temecula are located an hour from downtown SanDiego and have a great deal of residents leaving the area every day to commute to high-technology jobs in San Diego and Orange County. We recognize that strong, local solutions are needed to grow startup technology companies and that there is a need for a business incentive program which includes access to low-cost space and mentoring programs so that startup technology companies can focus on their growth. Murrieta saw an opportunity at our former City Hall for the creation of a Murrieta Regional Technology Innovation Center (“Innovation Center”), which provides low-cost space for approved startup technology companies, along with the business resources needed to foster their growth.
Companies locating in this facility are required to relocate from the Innovation Center after a set period of time, to a privately owned space in the community – thereby helping to create and grow companies locally and then creating the space for additional new startup technology companies within the Innovation Center.
To date, we have three companies located within the incubator: a national security company and two scientists/entrepreneurs working on cancer research and biomarker discovery. In order to grow beyond these three companies and get more entrepreneurs started in the accelerator, we need your help! This project will purchase 10 new tables and 40 new rolling chairs for the accelerator, opening the door to many new entrepreneurs and start-ups in Murrieta. Please donate today!
An investment in local startups is an investment in local jobs. Today, more than ever before, the American economy is being supported by new innovative businesses. The cities that support entrepreneurs will be the cities that see the benefits of increased local jobs and economic growth.
For more information about the Innovation Center, or to obtain an application, please contact Bruce Coleman or Kimberly Davidson, City of Murrieta Economic Development Department (951) 304-2489.
How can I be certain that the municipality will use my money for a particular project?
We've got your back! Before any project is posted to Citizinvestor, our partners agree that the money you donate to a specific project will only be used for that project.
Will my credit card be charged if a project doesn't meet 100% of its funding goal?
No! We require that a project be funded in full before any money changes hands. If a project is only 99% pledged once the deadline hits, nobody's credit card gets charged, including yours.
When will my credit card be charged?
Your credit card will be charged the same day in which a project reaches 100% of its funding goal.
Is the money I donate to projects on Citizinvestor tax deductible?
Yes! Under section 170 of the United States. Internal Revenue Code, it states that contributions made to political subdivisions for exclusively public purposes are categorized as charitable contributions. However, with all tax matters, we recommend that you consult a CPA.
Are there any transaction fees included in the project goal amount?
Each project's total cost includes a 3% credit card transaction fee and a 5% fee for Citizinvestor's services. These fees are only paid if the project reaches 100% of its funding goal.
