About this project
Tyler residents care about their pets!
For Tyler residents, the care of stray animals and the ability to reunite lost pets with their owners is more than just a passing issue– it’s a major concern. The City of Tyler has a significant need for a full-service animal care facility as there is not one in close proximity. Owners attempting to reclaim their pets routinely have difficulty determining where their pet was transported. In addition, the transport of animals to a neighboring city is cost prohibitive. Furthermore, providing more options for local adoptions, spay/neuter services, and the ability to reunite lost pets with their owners is essential.
When the opportunity arose, the City of Tyler moved forward with the purchase of property at 4218 Chandler Highway for the purposes of opening a city-owned and operated animal care facility. The facility will have the capacity to accommodate at least 75 dogs and 50 cats. In addition to providing medical and adoption services for strays and surrenders in the area, the facility will partner with other animal care groups and veterinary services as well as have an outreach component that will help to grow community awareness. The property includes 10 acres and existing buildings.
“We have been working towards Tyler maintaining its own animal care facility for several years, and we are very pleased to progress to this next step in making that happen,” said City Manager Mark McDaniel.

How can I be certain that the municipality will use my money for a particular project?
We've got your back! Before any project is posted to Citizinvestor, our partners agree that the money you donate to a specific project will only be used for that project.
Will my credit card be charged if a project doesn't meet 100% of its funding goal?
No! We require that a project be funded in full before any money changes hands. If a project is only 99% pledged once the deadline hits, nobody's credit card gets charged, including yours.
When will my credit card be charged?
Your credit card will be charged the same day in which a project reaches 100% of its funding goal.
Is the money I donate to projects on Citizinvestor tax deductible?
Yes! Under section 170 of the United States. Internal Revenue Code, it states that contributions made to political subdivisions for exclusively public purposes are categorized as charitable contributions. However, with all tax matters, we recommend that you consult a CPA.
Are there any transaction fees included in the project goal amount?
Each project's total cost includes a 3% credit card transaction fee and a 5% fee for Citizinvestor's services. These fees are only paid if the project reaches 100% of its funding goal.
